FIREARMS SAFETY
There is a Firearms Safety class held at the club every spring. The Firearm Safety course is now required by the State of Minnesota. The club has offered this course since 1955. The course is based on gun safety and handling of a firearm, hunter responsibility, ethics and bowhunting, plus many other areas. The club has a group of certified volunteer instructors, but we are always looking for interested volunteers to assist and offer new ideas.
2012 Firearms Safety Course registration date is April 9, from 7:00pm - 8:00 pm at the Delano Sportsmens Club. There is a NO registration fee. A parent or guardian is required to register each student. Students must be 11 years old by the registration date. Adults are welcomed and encouraged to take this course.
Class hours are from 7:00pm - 9:00pm each night (Students must attend all classes). A parent or guardian is requested to attend the April 10th class from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Class dates are; April 10, 12, 17, 19, 23, 26 and May 1, 3. Saturday May 5, 2012 is the Field / Range Day from 7:00am to about 1:00pm.
No firearms or ammunition is to be brought to classes by the students. A firearm of some type (ie. rifle, shotgun, BB gun, etc) will be needed for the Field / Range day. Do not bring ammunition for this day. if you have no firearm one will be provided to shoot on the range. Field / Range day will be held rain or shine. Students should dress accordingly.
The firearm safety course will cover hunter responsibility, firearms handling, archery, marksmanship, wildlife identification, game management and game care, survival, water safety and first aid

BOWHUNTER SEMINAR
There is a Minnesota Bowhunter Education Seminar held at the club every spring. Many states require this training to obtain a non-resident archery license. The course is based on bowhunter responsibilities, proper equipment safety, game laws, bowhunting techniques, game recovery and game care, wildlife conservation, survival and first aid. Its held on a Wednesday evening from 6:00pm-9:00pm followed by a Saturday, from 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M. and is usually limited to 25 students.

2012 Minnesota Bowhunter Education Seminar. 2 classes required to complete the course: Wednesday April 25, 2012 - 6:00pm - 9:00pm, and Saturday, April 28, 2012 - 8:00am - 4:30 pm. Participants must be 12 years old or older. 12 - 18 year olds must posess a firearms Safety Certificate. Course topics include; Bowhunter responsibilities, Proper equipment, safety, and game laws, Bow hunting techniques, Game recovery & care of game, Wildlife conservation, Survival & first aid. Participants receive an ID card, arm badge, and informative reference materials. Cost $5.00 (includes all class material). Lunch will be available at additional cost.
