Delano Sportsman’s Club finished up their Spring Firearm Safety Training class on Saturday, April 9th. Sixty-eight (68) students successfully completed the course. The training involved firearm handling in the field, marksmanship shooting on the range, wilderness survival techniques, wildlife identification, conservation management, water safety, and first aid awareness. Students are now eligible for their Minnesota DNR Firearm Safety certificate. The plan is to hold a Spring class again next year. Late January, check the club’s web page for dates and times. If you are interested in becoming MN DNR Firearm Safety Instructor certified and can help out with the classes, contact Garret Sarkinen
A Firearms Safety class is held at the club every spring. The Firearm Safety course is now required by the State of Minnesota. The club has offered this course since 1955. The course is based on gun safety and handling of a firearm, hunter responsibility, ethics and game identification, plus many other areas. The club has a group of certified volunteer instructors, but we are always looking for interested volunteers to assist and offer new ideas.
